Using PowerPoint Backgrounds



PowerPoint backgrounds following will make your presentation stand out and impress your audience. There are a number of backgrounds you can use to do this. They can be found on Microsoft PowerPoint itself or you can search for some on Google.
Accessing the background feature in PowerPoint is simple. Here is how to do it on PowerPoint 2007. When you open your program look for the design ribbon tab, choose background on this and open the background format box. This will allow you to choose your PowerPoint backgrounds.
First you can select solid color for your presentation by selecting the fill tab of the background format box. You can use the color dropdown menu to select the color you need. Alternatively you can choose custom colors and adjust to your precise needs. Just click on the color you want and press OK.

Gradient colors come in 5 different designs.
  • Linear: the color flows out in lines.
  • Radial: the color flows in a circular way.
  • Rectangular: the color will flow in a rectangular way.
  • Path: the colors form a rectangle as the flow outwards from the center.
  • From the title: colors form a rectangle when they flow from the title.
Textured PowerPoint backgrounds are a little tricky. You need to choose these carefully so they do not obscure any other images or text in the picture. Some of the Microsoft ones are a little too busy so you may need to experiment to get the right one.
Pictures can be used as PowerPoint backgrounds check this. You will need to be careful of the size of your image as PowerPoint will automatically stretch the image to cover the whole background area. You can also tile smaller pictures, experiment to see what looks best. An image can also be offset or placed on the side of your slide.

You can either use free backgrounds or professional ones. Free ones are used by many people and can detract from the originality of your slide show.
